Analysis of Beam Simulations for Muon Cooling at CERN (February 2007)

This report details the results from simulations conducted at CERN's CM17 facility from February 22 to 25, 2007. Utilizing ICOOL, G4BeamLine, and Turtle transport methods, two primary beams of muons were analyzed, featuring approximately 2900 and 5140 muons with momenta around 206 MeV/c and 209 MeV/c respectively. The study investigates key parameters such as beam emittance, cooling efficiency, and optics transmission. Findings indicate the need for further investigation due to some unexpected performance metrics in recovery and cooling optics.
