Education for Sustainable Development

Development that meet the needs of the present without comprising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs. South Asian Association of Regional Corporation faces now an important number of interlinked priorities in the early 21st century, including the economical and social consequence of the global financial crisis, climate change, declining water and energy resources, shrinking biodiversity, threats to food security and health risks. ESD is a lifelong learning perspective is essential for the achievement of a sustainable society and is therefore desirable at all levels of formal education and training, as like formal and non formal education. Education and training are in dispensable to achieving a more sustainable South Asia and world should be regarded as crucial in the process of lifelong learning and should, where appropriate , be main streamed into all levels and aspects of education and Training , in order to strengthen the capacity of citizens to cope with imminent unpredictable problems and to find long term solutions for there in many different situations throughout life. The banking system is the back bone of any economy system. The strength of financial system depends on sound banking system. Due to lack of awareness among people, even after decades of emergence of banking industry it was not used effectively. In recent times the Indian population has started availing the facilities of the banks. E banking trend is spreading at a faster rate in all the countries. Banks provide internet banking services to its national and international customers. The study is an attempt to measure to the awareness of E banking system introduced by banks in rural areas. The study was conducted in Modakurachi village of Erode district of Tamilnadu. Theprimary data was obtainedusing awell designed questionnaire. The questionnaire was equipped with questions relating to demographic factors, level of awareness on E banking among the respondents and factors influencing to choose E banking.Forthisstudy,250respondents irrespectiveoftheirtypeofbankaccount, occupation, age andeducationallevelhavebeenselectedrandomlyas a sampleofthedataanalysis. The banks available in the study area are Canara bank, Indian overseas bank, State bank of India and City union bank. Out of 250 respondents, 55.2 were holding account in public sector banks. The awareness level on E banking was 68.8 . The accounts of 34.8 of the respondents were not self maintained. Majority of the respondents were familiar with internet browsing but were reluctant to use facilities like bill payments and fund transfer, etc. The reasons for not using E banking facilities were found to be that there are no regular banking activities among the customers, lack of high speed internet and the bank website is not user friendly. The banks can consider changing the website bilingual Englishand regional language . The errors and frauds happening in internet banking should be reduced to motivate the users of internet banking facilities. Digital India's SME's Economy - Switching to Digital is a Necessity not a Choice !!!

Digitalization of Indian business is majorly driven by the rapidly advancing digitization of consumers. This has led to increased data traffic and accelerated establishment of new tech based start ups to take advantage of the growth opportunities. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises MSME sector contributes about 8 of GDP. It also plays a pivotal role in development of the economy by employing almost 80 million people, contributing about 45 of the total manufacturing output and 40 of exports of the country. However, in a rapidly digitalizing economy, these industries fail to keep pace. Online shoppers in India are growing at compounded annual growth rate CAGR of 18 and will reach 220 million by the year 2020. Unfortunately, out of the 51 million SMEs in India, less than 5 6 have an online presence. The companies migrating to an online platform could potentially increase their revenues by 51 , improve operational efficiency and broaden their customer. Mr. Paresh S. Analysis of Retrofiton School Building With Shear Wall and Steel Bracing

The earthquake on 30 September 2009with7,6 magnitude occurred in West Sumatera and it caused the damage to both physical public facilities and infrastructures. The education sectors suffered from structural damage to the school buildings. In order to establish of the new Indonesian Seismic Code, SNI03 1726 2012, it will affect to the performance of structures which was built before the establishment of the new seismic code, in which the building may not be adequate to with stand the working loads. In this study, the performance and structural strength of a two story RC school building SMAN3 Batusangkar designed using previous seismic code SNI03 1726 2002 and it was constructed before2009, was evaluated based on the new seismic code. The result of evaluation on the SMAN3 Batusangkar building shows that the building cannot resist the working loads applied to the structure, especially the earthquake loads, so the building structure needs to be retrofitted. Two retro fitted methods of the builiding were proposed in this study, they are using shear wall and steel bracing systems, which installed on the building frame with different locations. The addition of shear wall and steel bracing are very effective in strengthening the building structure, where the load bearing capacity of the structure increased significantly and the building is able to resist all working loads. Building Information Model A Graphical User Interface to Generate a three Dimensional Building

From the past few decades, Building Information Modeling BIM has been evolving to become one of the robust domains connecting different dimensions from Architecture, Engineering and Constructions. Even though it was started to take over a large part of the globe in understanding various components of structure, it is yet to reach a common person for generating a 3D building for an given area. In this study, a three dimensional graphical user interface is developed to generate a 3D building from given parameters such as height of the each floor, number of bays in each direction, dimensions of major structural elements and information related to windows and doors. The future work of this tool is to give different three dimensional structures for any given plan including its analysis, design and material quantities at any location of the globe considering local structural types with inclusion of structural standard codes. 7 Desalination Approach of Seawater and Brackish Water by Coconut Shell Activated Carbon as a Natural Filter Method PDF
Desalination Approach of Seawater and Brackish Water by Coconut Shell Activated Carbon as a Natural Filter Method

Engineers are challenged to develop cost effective ways to produce large quantities of water suitable for drinking, crop irrigation and commercial use for regions of the world that suffer from water shortages. Water desalination is expensive, requiring large amounts of energy and specialized equipment to convert saltwater into drinking water. The present study aims to develop a cheaper, cleaner, easy and more energy efficient way of desalinating seawater technique by using natural filters, it can help the common people as it affordable during their immediate requirements. The developed technique seemed to be very effective in reducing the concentration of seawater ions. The desalination system is developed by selecting coconut shell charcoal as the substrate material. As per the results obtained from prototype of seawater and brackish water, there is 60 reduction in chloride and 75 reduction in sodium this is mainly due to the usage of activated carbon charcoal as the filter media. It is also observed through experiments that there is 100 reduction in iron,53 reduction in sulphate, 20 reduction in total dissolved solids and 12 reduction in hardness which clearly indicates that the selected filter medias those are activated carbon charcoal, sand, laterite would be used as the filter medias for future experiments on desalination using natural filters. This work is to present an overview of current and future technologies applied to the desalination of brackish as well as seawater to produce freshwater for supplementing drinking water supplies to the common people in smaller quantity. Removal efficiency increases with the increase in contact time respectively, for both seawater and brackish water, which was considered to be maximum purification ~40 . Coexistence of Zigbee and Wi Fi Networks in Machine to Machine Home System

The possibility for the home to be networked wirelessly has greatly improved because of emerging technologies. Home networking is very much possible now with the different technologies that are available. This project is an application of two wireless technologies to machine to machine M2M home networking coexisting together. The networking technologies used and evaluated in the project are ZigBee and Wi Fi, where the risk of interference in the networks is identified and evaluated. The M2M home network system that was developed and implemented is an interconnection of electronic home devices grouped by sub networks categorized by each of the wireless technologies. Because the two sub networks are working in proximity, there is the high chance of interference. Connection for Zigbee include home electronic devices such as light fixtures, television, stereo, etc., and Wi Fis network is connections of remotely monitored IP cameras. The joint application of the two networks showed how these networks affect each other and how they coexist in one system. The paper explored the risk of interference of these two systems when the system is implemented. Guidelines were developed to overcome and mitigate these constraints. 8 Automation of Medical Waste Separation using Advanced Technologies to Minimize its Impact on Environment PDF
Automation of Medical Waste Separation using Advanced Technologies to Minimize its Impact on Environment

This paper describes a shape recognition technique using boundary chain codes extracted by a method as described by Pavlidis and used an 8 connected neighbourhood. A chain code is a representation of a two dimensional contour using a one dimensional array. Feed forward neural networks were trained to recognise these chain codes. In addition, backpropagation network is trained using different training algorithms and the resulting optimal parameters are recorded. Depending upon the complexity of the object to be recognised, this technique can used to form the basis for object recognition or as the best method. The research is also aimed to compare the performance of chain code representation as against centroidal profile extraction. The third objective is to determine the effectiveness of Feed forward artificial neural networks ANNs in recognising and classifying different medical waste items in the image form. The networks were trained on a large number of medical waste items. The wide variety of shapes and textures revealed that just a representation of an objects boundary is not sufficient to recognise every object in the set, and some form of texture recognition will also be required in recognising medical wastes. The results have shown that chain code has lesser performance as compared to centroidal profile representation. Ramani Bai V. Performance Evaluation of International Airline Websites Quality using Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process Model

Statistics play a critical role in any modern use of technology in science and industry. Statistical concepts and methods are developed and applied in the information technology industry for various problems. In order to monitor the quality of products, to plan effective and efficient designs to improve standards, to test and analyze the quality of items produced. The increased attention paid to these problems and accompanying new statistical methodologies, has created an active and valuable new area of research application industrial statistics. There is a statistical mechanism for measuring the effects of the web page component towards the performance and quality of the website. Every web page design has their own characteristics and this characteristic has drawbacks and benefits. This study focuses on evaluating the quality of international airline websites with sample of five airways. Examined many dimensions of quality, and each dimension has been measured by specific online test using a series of diagnostic tools. The authors propose a methodology for evaluating the airline website quality based on fuzzy analytical hierarchy process model FAHPM . The result of this study confirmed that more effort is required to meet with these criteria in the context of website design. 6 A Model for Encryption of a Text Phrase using Genetic Algorithm PDF
A Model for Encryption of a Text Phrase using Genetic Algorithm

In any organization it is an essential task to protect the data from unauthorized users. Information Systems hardware, software, networks, and data resources need to be protected and secured to ensure quality, performance, and integrity. Security management deals with the accuracy, integrity, and safety of information resources. When effective security measures are in place, they can reduce errors, fraud, and losses. In the current work, the authors have proposed a model for encryption of a text phrase employing genetic algorithm. The entropy inherently available in genetic algorithm is exploited for introducing chaos in a text phrase thereby rendering it unreadable. The no of cross over points and mutation points decides the strength of the algorithm. The prototype of the model is implemented for testing the operational feasibility of the model and the few test cases are presented Dr. Poornima G. Naik | Mr. Pandurang M. More | Dr. Girish R.
