  2. Let me introduce myself. My name is David Romero, I am your new ”Organization and Control within the Travel Agency industry” teacher. Let´s present this subject that will be taught using both English and Spanish language.

  3. DURACION DEL MODULO:128 HORAS. How long is the subject? 128 hours. CARGA HORARIA SEMANAL: 4 HORAS. Number of hours a week: 4 hours.

  4. INDEX.- The subject is divided into 6 units: • Unit 1.-The organization of tourist enterprises. • Organización empresarial: Conceptos previos, criterios de clasificación de empresas, etc. • Administración: fases. • La departamentalización: fundamento, tipos y bases de realización. • Estructuras y culturas organizativas eficaces: clásicas y modernas. • El organigrama.

  5. Unit 2.-Budgetary management within the tourist industry. • Gestión y control presupuestaria en las empresas y entidades de hostelería y turismo. • Concepto y propósito de los presupuestos. • Ciclo presupuestario. • Tipos de presupuestos: explotación y financiero. • Control presupuestario.

  6. Unit 3.-Economic and Financial analysis in the tourist sector: financial statements. • Definición y tipos. • La información de los estados financieros: registro mercantil y auditoría de cuentas. • Análisis de los estados financieros en las empresas del sector turístico: interpretación de las cuentas anuales contables: balance de situación y pérdidas y ganancias.

  7. Unit 4.-Investment and finance. • Concepto de inversión. • Procesos. • Tipos de inversión. • Métodos de selección de inversiones: estáticas y dinámicas. • Concepto de financiación. • Fuentes de financiación de la empresa: propias y ajenas. • Costes de las fuentes de financiación.

  8. Unit 5.-Costs and prices within the travel agency industry. • Definición de coste. • Clasificación de los costes. • Métodos para el cálculo de costes en agencias de viajes. • Cálculo de los precios de venta: el umbral de rentabilidad (Break even point).

  9. METHODOLOGICAL STRATEGIES.- • The subject will be taught by means of theoretical explanations, power point presentations, bilingual homeworks and class activities. • The teacher will provide students with hand-outs per unit, which will be at their disposal on the wiki: http://travelagencytrainingcourse.wikispaces.com.

  10. TOOLS OF ASSESSMENT.- In order to determine students´marks for every term, there are three criteria to be put into practice: • Exams: 70% (10% of this criteria, for bilingual 1 section). • Homeworks and class activities: 20% (5% of this 1 criteria, for bilingual section). • Attendance and participation in class: 10% (5% -. . of this criteria, for bilingual section).
