Essential Earthquake Restraints for Safety: What You Need to Know

Ensuring safety during an earthquake involves properly restraining items located 4 feet or higher from the floor. Objects that could block egress or cause injury if they fall, such as bookshelves, filing cabinets, and storage racks, must be secured. Open shelves above 4 feet require a 3/4” high lip or a device like a bar or chain to prevent items from toppling over. Properly implementing these restraints not only protects individuals but also minimizes damage during seismic events. For more assistance, contact Rocky Saunders at extension 7032.
