  2. Steps of the Public Policy Analyst (PPA) • Step 1: Define the Problem • Step 2: Gather the Evidence • Step 3: Identify the Causes • Step 4: Examine an Existing Policy • Step 5: Develop New Solutions • Step 6: Select Best Solution

  3. Step 1: Define the Problem • What are invasives? • Are they everywhere? Nowhere? • Are they in Fort Tryon? Hudson River? Bronx River? Harlem River? Oh no, not Central Park? • Be specific!

  4. Step 2: Gather the Evidence • From the problem that you have identified that exists in the Hudson River, Central Park or Fort Tryon, Bronx or Harlem Rivers, in groups of four gather evidence to identify the problem of a specific invasive species. • Complete the worksheet.

  5.   7. Step 5: Develop New Solutions • Develop an action plan to solve or reduce the effects of invasive species to NYS environment. • Complete the worksheet.

  8. Step 6: Select Best Solution • Discussion….. • What’s the is feasibility? • What is effectiveness? • How do these variables factor into our solution selection process?

  9. Now that you have brainstormed, complete the grid and determine the best course of action (solution).Let’s use this tool to select your solution!
