  2. Cancer statistics represent a cancer survivorship journey taken by a cancer patient, family, and friends. Our program’s mission is to improve the cancer health status of American Indians in the Northern Plains region through collaboration with communities and key partners.

  3. Incidence (New Cases) of Cancer in Nebraska: 1998 - 2007 During the 10-year period (1998-2007), 366 new cases of cancer were reported among American Indians Source: Nebraska Cancer Registry 2007 Annual Report

  6. 36.2% of American Indian adults are current smokers

  7. Obesity prevalence is highest among American Indians

  8. Our regional (NE, ND, SD, IA) study identified three priority areas: • Colorectal cancer screening • Smoking prevention • Obesity prevention
