BaCKGROUND • Founded in 2006 by BjarkeIngels. • Over 90 architects, builders, designers and thinkers. • Young architectural company, characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit, true team-work across expertise areas and new ways of approaching conventional tasks. • BIG’s architecture emerges out of a careful analysis of how contemporary life constantly evolves and changes. • Headquarters are located in Copenhagen and 12 months ago they started an affiliate in New York.

  3. BjarkeIngels • Born on 2 October 1947 • Danish architect • Studied architecture at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen and the Technica Superior de Arquitectura in Barcelona. • From 1998 • Tries to achieve a balance between playful and practical approaches to architecture

  4. Architecture Project Urbanism: The Bridge (Idea) Type: Housing and Infrastructure Year: 2005 Size: 100,000 m2 Principle: constructing an inhabitable bridge by using apartments and office space as bridge piers.

  5. Public Space: Forde Raadhuskuarter, Norway (Idea) Type: Competition Year:2009 Size: 17,700 m2 Principle: Town Hall Quarter will be created as a gathering place for citizens, instead of an architectural piece that is admired from afar.

  6. Body Culture: Hafjell Mountain Hotel (Idea) Type: Commission Year: 2007 Size: 11000 M2 + 332 Apartments Principle: A hotel and apartment house in the mountains that provides accessibility, circulation and logistics, the same standards as a modern hotel.

  7. Media: GMoMA- Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art (Completed) • Type: Exhibition • Year:2008 • Size: 30 M2 • Principle: To reintroduce the public and private outdoor space to the urban fabric of the city.
