  3. Our Mission Frank Vessels Elementary School is committed to equipping students with the tools they need for academic, personal and social achievement. Frank Vessels Elementary School enables every student to reach their highest potential by establishing a curriculum that meets or exceeds government standards for education; providing extracurricular programs that develop children's' mental, physical and social skills; and partnering with parents and the community to create an environment geared to the success of all students.

  4. Frank Vessels ElementaryEnrollment hovers around 660 students.We have three classes per grade level. High performing school with an API score of 888 (2013). State ranking 9 and Similar School Ranking 8. Received Distinguished School Award 2010-2011.

  8. Morning Routines • Students arrive as closely to 8:20 AM as possible. Supervision provided 10 minutes prior to transition bell. • Grades 1st – 4th wait at the lunch tables until the 8:20 bell and walk to the classrooms. • Grades 5th under Bldg. D snack tables and 6th grade in large circles on the blacktop until the 8:20 bell. • Students do not go to the classrooms prior to the bell. • Parents will remain in the lunch tables area ONLY. • Students must have a pass to leave the designated areas. • Students must walk to the classrooms on sidewalks or blacktops.

  9. Dismissal • Students should exit campus within 10 minutes of their exit bell • They must go to the destination arranged prior to arriving at school. • If students are being picked up after school they should wait on the in the supervised area in the parking lot. • Students are not to walk into the parking lot unless an adult escorts them. • We only dismiss to people on the emergency cards. Please keep them up to date. • Parents/Caregivers please wait at the lunch tables or on the sidewalks outside of the fenced area. • Students should meet siblings or friends at the lunch tables.

  10. Lunch Students may bring their lunch or buy their lunch. The cost of lunch is $2.65 and milk is $.35. Please prepay for lunch and keep a balance in your child’s account. Please make sure your child’s name and teacher’s name is on the envelope. Envelopes will be sent home when your child’s account is low. Information to manage your account online is available. ***We encourage students to eat with their friends during lunch to establish positive peer relationships.

  11. Please do not…….. • Students should not bring toys without special permission from an adult. • Students should not bring money except for lunch, Juice IT UP, or for school purposes. • Only students in 3rd grade or higher are permitted to ride bicycles, scooters, and skateboards to school. They must wear helmets and walk their bikes on school grounds. The bike rack is not locked and the school is not responsible for missing items. • Students should not bring Nintendo, Gameboys or electronic devices to school.

  12. Cell Phones • Students may bring cell phones to school but they must be kept in the backpack during the school day. While in the backpack they must be turned off. Violating, or breaking these rules, might lead to having the cell phone taken away and a parent having to come and get it. The school is not responsible for cell phones so bring at your own risk.

  13. Supplies Thank you for donating supplies. Please leave them outside the classroom on the tables. If you don’t have them today you may bring them the first week of school. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

School Attire • For safety reasons please make sure your child has closed toed shoes. • Undergarments should not be visible • No see-through clothing • No spaghetti -strap tops • No short tops (stomach must be covered when arms are raised over head) • No low cut tops • No backless tops or shirts (i.e. that do not cover the back entirely) •  Shorts should be longer than the student's fingertips • Clothes must fit the body • Not excessively baggy • Not too tight • Closed toe shoes only • Accessories must be appropriate and not disruptive to learning. Also accessories must be safe. (Chains, large hoop earrings, spiked bracelets, and colored hair) are not allowed • Appropriate slogans on shirts (No beer, drugs, gangs) • Rubber wristbands cannot mention body parts • Hats can be worn at recess only for sun protection. The hats must be worn forward.

  17. Bullying, harassment, or cyberbullying (Using the internet or phone) can take the following forms: • Spreading false rumors • Cruel remarks or name calling • Threats of violence • Excluding, isolating or ignoring another person (on a systematic basis) • Tricking someone into revealing personal information and then spreading it around by e-mail or instant messenger • Writing notes or putting up on a Web page for the purpose of making fun of a person • Set up a poll to choose who is least popular, fattest, ugliest, etc.

  18. Healthy Kids Vessels School encourages healthy eating and healthy living. There are also state nutritional guidelines we must adhere to. In keeping with these standards, we ask that if providing snacks they meet nutritional guidelines. For example, foods and drinks with high sugar content are not accepted. In addition, all items must be prepackaged. We also discourage sodas in student lunches.

  19. Nutritional Guidelines & Healthy Habits • We do not use instructional time for birthday treats. • Donate a book to the library with your child’s name. • Bring party favors (stationary items, books, stickers) for the whole class. • Nutritional snack break is available at the AM recess. • Classroom parties will encourage nutritional beverages and snacks. (Only prepackaged items allowed.) • Please do not send or bring sodas for lunches.

  20. Juice It Up • Fridays at Primary and Upper grade lunches Juice It UP smoothies will be available. • $3 for 12 oz • $4 for 16 oz

  22. Parent Volunteers Please sign up in your child’s classroom if you would like to volunteer. There are lots of different opportunities. Please sign-in at the office before coming to the classroom.
