  1. Bell Ringer Answer these two questions using iPad or a piece of paper: How was the Torah of central importance to the Jews? What is a messiah?

  2. Homework • Answer this question in at least 3 sentences: What was the result of the revolt of the Maccabees? • Due February 18th (Homeroom 322) and February 19th (Homeroom 320).

  6. Maccabees Revolt • Jews fight two year war against Syrian rulers to gain independence. The fighters used hit and run tactics against the Syrians. The attacked at night and set fire to Syrians’ camps. They used guerilla warfare. In the end the drove Syrians out of Jerusalem and the reign of the Torah was restored. Jews celebrate this victory on Hanukkah.
