Word of the Day/Initial Activity • Reconstruction • a unit of land area equal to 4,840 square yards • Reconstruction…why??? • Answer the questions below based upon your background knowledge of the Civil War. • Why would animosity exist after the Civil War between the Northern states and the Southern States? • How might Reconstruction prove to be a difficult goal to achieve? • Discussion • Why would a President choose a peaceful and speedy Reconstruction over a prolonged and aggressive one?
