  2. “Children of the Sea” By: EDWIDGE DANTICAT

  3. AUTHOR: Edwidge Danticat She was a novelist, born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. When she was 2 years old her father emigrated to New York. And was followed two years later by her mother Rose. He started writing at a short age. She had to speak Creole at home even though the school she went to was French speaking. This book was published in October, 1993 and later in 1995 inside a short story book collection.

  4. Character Analysis • Primary characters: Boy and Girl • Secondary: Mama and Papa, Madame Rogers and Celianne.

  5. Setting • The story take place in Haiti • She chose this setting because she was born and raised in Haiti • She found it easy to describe this place because she lived a similar experience on real life.

  6. choose one character and explain how they changed/grew throughout the story. • I chose Celianne because she was raped and then she got pregnant, but she was trying to get a better by taking a boat to Miami.

  7. Theme • The theme of this story is to inform the world of the injustices that had happened in Haiti.
