  2. What is Annie’s Project? • Six week educational program for farm women • Purpose: To empower farm women to become better business partners • Began in 2003 in Illinois. Now in over 10 states. Was introduced to ND in 2006.

  3. In honor of: • Annie (Kohlhagen) Fleck • Grew up in small town in northern ILL • Elementary school teacher • Goal was to marry a farmer • Learned how to be a good business partner in their farming operation • This program started by Ruth Hambelton, Annie’s daughter

  4. Currently, over 3,200 women have complete this course

  5. Program Content • Human resources, personality profiles • Women & finances • Farm & ranch financial records • Using spreadsheet & other software • Crop & livestock marketing • Business Plans- Bringing it all together

  6. Empowering women to become better business partners

  7. Program Delivery • Part of each program delivered over the Interactive Video Network • Part of each program delivered at each location by local professionals • Each session approximately 3 hours long • Each session begins with light meal to foster networking and sharing within group

  10. 2006 Program in ND • Partnered with Minnesota • Funded largely by a RMA grant • Delivered to 5 sites • Fargo, Grand Forks, Grafton, Minot, Jamestown • 95 participants • Registration fees: $50.00

  11. 2007 Program in ND • No grant funds • Partnering with private businesses • Delivered to sixteen sites in ND • Enrollment of 300 participants • Registration fees of $100.00

Registration Process for 2008 • Registrations being taken now • On line: www.ag.ndsu.edu/anniesproject • MSWord or PDF • List updated daily • Brochures available in mid October • Cost: $100.00 per person (Must accompany registration application) • January 9, 2008 registration deadline • $35.00 late fee after this date • Classes begin week of January 21, 2008
