Welcome to the Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC)! Meet our dedicated officers: Co-Presidents Sara Graves and Katie Engeman, Secretary Dana Josephson, and Treasurer Lindsay Stump. Join us for exciting upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising initiatives designed to support exceptional children. Membership is open with a small fee, and participation in community service is required. Attend our next meeting on October 17th at 12:00 PM in Speight 202 to learn more and become an active member. Membership Requirements • Dues: $7/year or $5/semester • NEW! Volunteer obligation 5 hours per semester • Must register with the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center (VSLC) on-line by following the directions on the following website: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-studentlife/volunteer/studentforms.cfm • Download the “Individual VSLC Time Sheet” • You would be responsible for tracking your hours and later turning the time sheet in to the VSLC to receive volunteer credit
Ongoing volunteer opportunities… • Adapted PE • Pitt County Schools Low-Incidence Service-Learning • Create adapted materials for local classrooms • Volunteer in special education classrooms, working with kids • Sign up sheet name & Pirate ID • Lindsay will follow-up with email/facebook communication

Fundraising Events • Save your used Ink Cartridges • 10 ink cartridges = $20 certificate to Staples (use for adapted books and other club events materials) • Drop off to AT Lab (128 Rivers) or • Contact Lorenda for pick-up! • Scentsy Special Olympics Warmer • Selling Tickets --> speak with Lorenda if you can commit to selling tickets (10 tickets total) • 2-week event once we get warmer!

Service Project Part One: • Collect books for school distribution in Moore County at the NC CEC State Conference • All NC SCEC chapters are participating • Begin collecting books now! Part Two • November-Adapting Books Event • Use funds raised from ink cartridges to buy materials at Staples
