Overview • September 8, 2009-August 31, 2010 • IMLS grant funded via DLDS • Catalog of courses - self-paced • Learner chooses where, when, what, how many • Minimum expectations & CE Credit – yes! • Motivation is key
History • FY2006 – NETg – desktop only; 193 participants • FY2007 – Thompson – added high tech; • FY2008 – SkillSoft – piloted business; shared kickoffs • FY2009 – SkillSoft – added business; each system held their own kickoffs; 882 course completions so far • FY2010 – SkillSoft – all library staff! Self registration
Learner Expectations • CE Credit based on course duration estimates where 1 hour estimated = 1 hour CE • Minimum Expectations: • Complete 1 course • Print certificates to track CE credit hours
Liaison Expectations • Assist with registration • Rolling enrollment – teach new learners how to self-register • Market the project and provide registration/login info • Going for 1,000 learners – think ½ your staff • Provide a project kickoff • Computer lab • PPT presentation provided • Communicate technology requirements • Communicate SkillSoft CE Credit process

How to run reports • Go to Merlin – www.merlincommunity.org • Choose Training > SkillPort Login • Your login will be provided in late August • Choose Admin Tasks • Reports • Run the report, then View the report • Course Activity and Course Completion reports helpful
Navigation • Navigation is explained in kickoff ppt • Here’s how in a nutshell: • Click on Catalog (top menu) • Keep clicking on what interests you until you see the Course Information screen which has Play button (OR search on keyword or course #) • Scroll down to see course information including duration which is what you use to calculate CE Credit • Notice Evaluation button is here too • Click on Play to launch course
