The conclusion emphasizes the importance of adopting innovative approaches for effective teaching and student development.

  1. ACTION PLAN Samina Imran Khan DA College for Women – Ph VIII English, Intermediate level

  2. Long- term goal: • Adopt Innovative, technology based approaches to enhance Higher Order Thinking Skills in the students.

  3. SHORT-TERM GOALS: • To inculcate critical thinking in the students, enabling them to face 21st Century challenges. • To use activity based tasks for improving listening, speaking, writing and reading comprehension. • To encourage peer sharing and learning. • To make English Language Teaching purposeful and shifting the focus of students fro m exams to real life learning.

  4. Instructional Strategies and tasks: • I will provide more opportunities for the students to answer questions that require Higher Order Thinking Skills. • I will provide students with opportunities for peer sharing and learning. • I will motivate the students to learn English as useful tool for communication in the real world. • I will give more opportunities of group and panel discussion and persuasive speech in the classroom. • I will create learner centered environment, where my role would be to facilitate positive language learning skills through interesting activities.

SOLUTIONS TO ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES: CHALLENGES: • Large classes • I don’t own a laptop • Electricity Failure • Limited time for course completion • Resistance to learn innovatively as at intermediate level students are exam oriented • No facility for photocopying the hand outs • Non availability of OHPs and Multimedia in the classrooms • Lack of strength and energy due to number of classes every day SOLUTIONS: • Group work • Can work at home computer • Can only pray for improvement • Smart time management • Motivate the students and appraise them with significance of English Language • CR to share the responsibility for the class • College Administration • College Administration

  9. Conclusion: • Its never too late to adopt innovative approaches ! • By implementing 21st century approach to teaching the process of critical thinking will evolve in the students and they will learn to face the practical world effectively and confidently.
