PUC’s Six Sigma Initiative The Private Universities Council is a regulatory Body and External Quality Assurance Agency licensed by the State of Kuwait to oversee all private post-secondary education institutions. Its major functions are licensing, quality assurance, accreditation and support. It adopted the philosophy of six sigma in all its operations

Six Sigma as a framework leading to Methodology • Define the Goal: Quality Higher Education-Institution specific • Measure: CTQ indicators, efficiency, effectivenes, etc • Analayze: data collection, defect levels identified • Improve: dialogue with institutions • Control: identify six sigma projects for rigorous six sigma methodolgy

Six sigma methodology as External Quality Assurance • Six sigma project was established as external QA exercise for both PUC and institutions • Six sigma rigorous methodology includes Master Black Belt training • The program was executed in partnership between PUC , institutions and the private sector

  13. Benefits to PUC and Institutions • Each group of three identified one improvement project • The groups carried out the projects with detailed methodical progress • Confidence built in the PUC and institutions after benefits were realized • Intangible benefits

  14. National Six sigma Initiative • The State Planning commission suggested private universities participation in personnel training • Institutions are adopting in-house green belt programs • Success is contaigous
