Simulation Setup and Parameter Optimization for Actuator Research

This week, I focused on completing the major portion of code searching for our actuator simulation project. I followed up with Jeff to discuss simulation settings, including choosing the appropriate time step size and friction coefficient by comparing results. I also explored the starting Y-coordinate and orientation of the actuator, ultimately creating a figure to illustrate the pushing results for a basic configuration. Looking ahead, I plan to refine the search around successful parameter points, conduct more trials with different starting settings, and film new experiments using Jeremy's updated end effector.

Presentation Transcript

  1. This week • Finish the major part of searching code • Follow the discussion with Jeff about simulation setting and search details, choose time stepper size and friction coefficient based on simulation result comparison • Search through starting y coordinate and orientation of actuator and build the pushing result figure for a simple setting.

  2. What’s next • Refinement on the searching size around successful points. • More searching trials on different starting settings of the parts. • Take new experiments video with jeremy’s new end effecter
