  6. Presentation Aids Should… • Support your presentation • Stand on their own • Be simple and clear

  7. Help your audience understand something difficult • Be prepared and practiced • Aim for back-row comprehension

  8. Follow the K.I.S.S. principle • Be seen (or heard) by EVERYONE in the room

  9. Appeal to as many senses as possible E.G. Hearing- Play an audio clip of animal sounds Taste-give audience a sample of food

  10. Keep in Mind… • The size of print (see handout) • Don’t overuse color • Stick to one or two types of font. • Don’t talk to your visual aid.

  11. NEVER circulate visual aids among the audience. • Instead invite audience to view after the speech is over.

  12. PowerPoint Rules • Don’t assume you need PowerPoint. • Choose images over text when possible • Use text sparingly • Format text for easy reading • Choose templates carefully • Avoid visual clutter

  14. Wrong way • Many times both men and women struggle when communicating with the opposite gender. For communication to be effective, it must be understood. One of the biggest barriers to effective communication is gender. The first step to overcoming the gender communication barrier is to identify male and female communication patterns.
