User Folder Cleanup On Macs
Cleanup • There are multiple ways to cleanup the excess of student folders in the /users folder. • You can use a connection cable in target disk mode. • You can use a script in self service.
Target Disk Mac Air • Power Down the computer • Connect to another computer using thunderbolt cable • Start up the target computer holding down the “t” button till you see the thunderbolt symbol jumping around on screen.
Target Disk Mac Air • The Target Computer will show up as an external drive. • Open it and navigate to the /Users folder • Delete all of the folders that you need to create space.
Target Disk Macbook • Connect the computer to another using a Firewire cable.
Target Disk Macbook • On the target computer open system preferences and select Startup Disk. • Click target disk mode and restart the machine.
Target Disk Macbook • The Target Computer will show up as an external drive. • Open it and navigate to the /Users folder • Delete all of the folders that you need to create space.
Target Disk • The Same Methods can be used on both laptops with the appropriate cable.
Self Service • Open Self Service And Select Scripts from the Categories bar. • Click Install to run the script.
Important • This Script Will Delete Everything in the /Users folder. • Be very careful with this, there is no way to recover these files!!!
