  2. Aim To separate salt and sand from water

  3. Hypothesis • Predict what will be seperated.

  4. Equipment Salt Sand Warm water Beaker x2 Funnel Filter paper Evaporating dish Bunsen burner

  5. Method • Place the salt given to you and a spatula of sand in a beaker with 15ml of warm water • Fold filter paper in to quarters and place in the funnel • Pour the salt, sand and water mixture in to filter paper and leave to filter through • Place salt water in evaporating dish and place on top of a beaker half full of water • Heat using bunsen burner until all water is evaporated from the evaporating dish • Weigh the salt using digital scales and record what you observed in the experiment
