    1. Occupational Cancer Incidence Ashley Pratt August 4, 2004

    2. Many Factors Act Together or in Sequence to Cause Cancer Personal characteristics: Age Sex Ethnicity Genetics Lifestyle factors and personal habits: Diet Smoking Alcohol consumption Certain medical conditions Exposure to cancer-causing agents in the environment and in the workplace In fact, between 4 to 10% of all cancers are due to occupation. 10 to 20% of lung cancers and 21 to 27% of bladder cancers are related to occupational exposure.

    3. Cancer Clusters A cancer cluster is a greater-than-expected number of cancers that occurs within a group of people in a specific region over a period of time. Workplace cancer clusters usually consist of the same types of cancer. When several non-common cancers of the same type occur, occupational exposure is also likely involved. When the cluster consists of multiple cancer types, without one type predominating, an occupational cause of the cluster is less likely.
