  3. Chosen People (41:8-10) • Children of Promise – Abraham • Children of Purpose • “bless all nations” – Gen 12:3 • Children of faith – Gen 15:5-6

  4. Chosen People (41:8-10) • Inward People – “Jews for Jews” • Isolated • Self-serving and self-consuming • Exiled People – “into the world” • “. . .I have not rejected you” • I will refocus you

  5. Interceding People (41:15-16) • Pray for the nations • Process of threshing – Medes and Babylonians (Micah 4:11-12) • Little by little they will diminish • Expect deliverance

  6. Interceding People (41:15-16) • Yield to the Holy Spirit • Obey his promptings • Believe he is working • “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations (Is.56:7; Mk 11:17).”

  7. Empowered People (42:1-9) • “My Servant” • Clearly messianic – Mt 3:11, 16; 12:18-21 • Clearly Spirit-anointed • “he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit”

  8. Empowered People (42:1-9) • He brings justice to the nations • Use “diplomacy” vs. force (v 2-3) • Applies a “higher” law (v 3) • Call to faith (v 5) • Call to a higher “righteousness” (v 6)

  9. Empowered People (42:1-9) • Bring light to the “nations” • Open blind eyes • Release prisoners from prison • Change out of the old for the new • New song of praise (42:1-4)

  10. Application • Learn from others • Stay outward focused • Share the good news
