  2. 6250 Competitive Overview Criteria • 5 vendors were chosen for this competitive analysis • Cisco, D-link, Extreme, HP, Nortel • All analysis is based on datasheet, website, user guides information • Models chosen • Any fast ethernet product in vendor’s portfolio • Models can be standalone or stackable • Models can support either L2 alone or both L2\L3 • Pricing based on CDW listings • This equates to approximately a 3035% discount off of price list pricing • Power Consumptions • Based on all ports active @ 100 % full throughput • Vendor power based on datasheet data • Alcatel-Lucent Differentiators • See separate expanded “ALU differentiators” slide

Alcatel-Lucent Differentiators (expanded) • Two simple enterprise models to choose from vs many by the competitors: reduces sparing and inventory costs • Scalable and flexible 416 ports per stack using 24 port non-PoE and PoE models (384 FE ports, 32 GE in a 8U space) • Dedicated-Redundant 5-GigE full duplex stacking capability up to 16 systems (mixed models) • Supports basic routing (static and RIP routing) provided with base system and includes IPv6. Simplified offer - no separate L2 and L3 models. • Virtual chassis management forup to 16 units of mixed models managed via single IP address • Low power consumption for eco-sustainability (see competitive analysis presentation) • Optimized form factor and low noise output ideal for co-location environments • PoE support: 802.3af and 802.3at standard max of 30W per port, up to available power budget. • One SW level based on feature rich AOS operating system to meet the needs of any: small-medium enterprise edge or branch office enterprise workgroups • Limited Lifetime Hardware and Software Warranty included with the product.

Cisco CE-500 and 2960 families • Overview/Strengths: • Dominant market share • Two levels of SW: • Lan Lite (5 models), LAN Base (9 models) • L2 only for both software levels • Free SW updates via web • Free, easy config CNA management tool for SMB networks, single IP management up to 16 units • Supports 10/100 and triple speed models with same operating system • Industry standard CLI • Weaknesses: • 2960: Only L2, no dedicated stacking links • 14 family models at various pricing & feature level vs two OS6250 models • Throughput performance less than equivalent OS6250 models (24 port models) • No IPv6 support in base image, only IPv6 management • 802.1X multiple host: When a port is enabled for multiple users,and a host that is connected to that port is authorized successfully, any host (with any MAC address) isallowed to send and receive the traffic on that port • 802.1X multiple auth: No Guest VLAN and ports go into the port VLAN and will not go into a RADIUS-assigned VLAN
