  2. Question 1 - 10 • These maps help explain what future consequence of European Imperialism in Africa?

  3. Answer 1 – 10 • Why conflicts eventually arose between different African people groups as they fought for power after Europeans left, having created countries with borders that didn’t take into consideration ethic/cultural differences and rivalries.

  4. Question 1 - 20 • Karl Marx despised capitalism and proposed Communism because he believed that Capitalism did what to society?

  5. Answer 1 – 20 • Provided wealth for a few and poverty for many. Created classes of Haves and Have-nots

  6. Question 1 - 30 • Why was child labor generally accepted in the industrial age?

  7. Answer 1 – 30 • Children had worked on the family farms so it didn’t seem any different. • Children were small enough to get in tight places in mines and under machines in factories. • Families were living in poverty and wanted all family members to work.

  8. Question 1 - 40 • What do these maps have to do with European industrialization?

  9. Answer 1 – 40 • With industrialization, European nations began seeking new sources of natural resources to fuel their industries, as well as new markets where they could sell the goods they were producing. Because industrialization made them much stronger and wealthier than the non-industrialized world, European nations claimed many foreign lands with little trouble. This map shows the carving up of Africa among the industrialized nations.
