  1. MARFC River Ice Briefing Monday, January 27, 2014 NWS Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center Susquehanna River at Wilkes-Barre, PA Jan 24, 2014

  2. Our Current Status • With cold weather continuing for the next several days, ice will continue to form and strengthen in our rivers and streams. • River conditions should remain stable as long as the freezing temperatures continue. Susquehanna River at Marietta, PA Jan 24, 2014

  3. The time for concern is when the ice breaks-up and starts moving. This will happen when warmer temperatures and rain return to our area. This is not expected through the next several days. Best thing to do now is STAY ALERT AND SHARE information. Stay in close communication with your NWS office.

  4. How to stay updated • Follow MARFC on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/US.NationalWeatherService.MARFC.gov We continue to actively share photos and news about river ice. Look at our posts from last week that explain why river ice causes stage readings to quickly jump or fall. • Follow MARFC on Twitter @NWSMARFC Many people are snapping photos of the river ice and we are retweeting the Mid-Atlantic photos. • Follow your local NWS Weather Forecast Offices too. They are also sharing photos and news about river ice.
