  1. NIXON THE IDIOT By Moses Ortiz & Austin Bott

  2. Richard Nixon Between February 1971 and July 1973, President Richard Nixon secretly recorded 3700 hours of his phone calls and meetings across the executive offices. These recordings played a leading role in the resignation of the 37th president on August 9, 1974. They remain perhaps the greatest treasure of information ever left by a president as well as the most controversial set of president records in U.S. history. However, to this day these recordings remain relatively unexplored on non-Watergate topics.

  3. The cruel man inside the office Richard Nixon had Prejudices about many things and races. We know that he hated many ethnicities like blacks, Jews, and many others. Although most his tapes based on the Watergate heist, we are focusing more on the racial mind of Richard Nixon and the comments he said.

  4. What are we trying to show • We want to get the idea out that in our opinion Richard Nixon was a very cruel man because he had many prejudices and made many uncivilized comments. Even though he made good decisions as all presidents do, those uncivilized comments led to the resignation of Nixon as U.S president.

  5. Why he recorded himself • Richard Nixon recorded many tapes of himself all of him being in the oval office. He had recorded himself because the former president, Lynden B. Johnson recommended that he should so no one could report false information on him. He was recorded by 3 recorders in his chair and two in the near by fire place in the oval office.

  6. The People he talked to. • People wonder how Nixon said so many mean things while he was in the White House? It was because most the things he said were on the phone with people outside the White House. Most the people he talked to were probably friends. The only names we were able to get were Bob Haldeman and Ronald Ziegler.

  7. How it’s related to history • Our topic is related to history because these racial comments he made along with other influences led to the resignation of our president. They are also related to history because it shows that even at the time Richard Nixon was in office there were still racist people and always will be

  8. Long before the Watergate scandals, Herb Block was pointing out excessive use of government power to wiretap or otherwise investigate the activities of citizens an administration felt were at odds with its policies. In 1970, the Civil Service Commission admitted to having a Security Investigations Index with over 10 million entries, and the armed forces revealed surveillance of Americans involved in anti-Vietnam war activities.

  9. Jews • Richard Nixon had many prejudices, but one of his main ones was he hated Jews. Richard Nixon seemed to think that every bad person in this world is a Jew. He claimed also that Jews were activists. This shows that he obviously hated the Jewish ethnicity. He also claimed that Jews are born spies because they are always listening in on everything. ”Jews are born spies”, said Nixon

  10. Blacks • He also had a prejudice against African Americans and referred to them as negroes. He said that there are very few black spies, they aren't smart enough he said. He was trying to say that blacks aren't naturally smart and very few are smart enough to do many things. “Negroes can’t be spies. They’re not smart enough.” said Nixon

  11. Links • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTPyE6f7GnQ&feature=related • http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB95/ • Out of all the research we did, these were the two best sites. We found just about everything from these sites. One of them is a link that leads to a video where Nixon talks about Jews and blacks. The other is an informational site about all the Nixon tapes in general. We want to say again that Richard Nixon had Prejudices about many different cultures and races. We know that he hated many ethnicities like blacks, Jews, and many others. Although most of his tapes are based on the Watergate heist, we are focusing more on the racial mind of Richard Nixon and the comments he made.
