As one cynic says, in human paleontology the consensus depends on who shouts the loudest…

Genesis 2 Review Michael Brown’s book, The Search for Eve: But although genetics can tell us a lot about patterns of relatedness of living populations, it can do little more than speculate about the time and place when they split. What comes out of a genetic model often depends on what assumptions go in: to take an unusually rigorous view of molecular evolution—that of the creationist Duane Gish—the fact that man and watermelon are both 97 percent water does not necessarily mean that they have a recent ancestor in common.

  4. Three questions from Genesis 2: a. It seems that the textual record of Genesis One and Two are differing accounts of the creation, i.e., they appear to be contradictory—can you explain this? b.The text of Genesis 2.4 seems to indicate that the entire creation was accomplished in only one day. If that is true, how can this verse be reconciled with the use of the word “day” in Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31 and Exodus 20:11? c.Why are there eleven different occurrences or sections in Genesis that are always introduced with the phrase, “…these are the generations of…”(tolodoth)

The Documentary Hypothesis: • One reason given in justification for the denial of the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch, particularly Genesis, is the neo-orthodox position that alleged that human language and the ability to write did not come into existence for some considerable time (tens of thousands of years) after the beginning. Therefore, they explain that the Pentateuch had to be written much later, and by several other authors. This of course, identifies the evolutionization of these DH supporters. • The Establishment of the First Law of Thermodynamics in Genesis 2 • The Sabbath • The Family and Marriage (What God has joined together, let not man seperate).

  6. First mentions in Chapter 3: • A. The Biblical and historical origin of Satan, evil, sin, death, the curse and evolution (naturalism). (cp. Exo.20:11; Col.1:16; Gen. 3:1,4-5 “not”—denying authority of God and His Word) • B. The basis for manmade religion. (Adam attempted to provide his own covering, Genesis 3:7 ) • C. The nature/nurture debate (man/nurture, 3:12; woman/nature, 3:13) • D. The first prophecy of the coming Messiah (3:15; this answer also underscores the question of Genesis authorship; cp. Jo.5:42-45, Lu.24:27)

E.The establishment of the War of the Ages (3:15, enmity, War of the ages and its connection and use to evolution) • F.The vicarious nature of redemption (3:15, 21) • G.The virgin birth of the Messiah (3:15, first mention) ●H.   8. Genesisin the New Testament: 1. All New Testament authors refer to the early chapters of Genesis (Genesis 1-12). 2. Jesus Christ referred to each of the first seven chapters of Genesis. 3. Most all New Testament books (19 of the 27), except Philippians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and 2 and 3 John have references to Genesis 1-12. 4. Every chapter of Genesis 1-12 except chapter 8 is referred to somewhere in the New Testament.

The true nature of our battle: • As we, therefore, trace the historical origin of evil and sin and their results, we will discover that the more we ascertainits evolutionary roots and personage, the more we will recognize these same rootsas the primary motive, even though subtle, in World History, and the true origin of all painful, depreciating forces behind present conditions of disease, pain, famine and war.

Abortion: 1. “…that the human embryo undergoes something like the whole process of evolution, as the old adage that “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.” The adage has been discredited, of course, but this does not mean it has lost its power over the imagination of many modern people. They still suppose that the fetus is in the early stages of development from a “lower” form of life, and this is probably what they mean when they say it isn’t fully human.”(Joseph Sobran, Human Life Review, 1984, p. 6) 2. “O-r-P:This is a fundamental tenet of modern biology that derives from evolution theory…Ontogeny is the name for the process of development of a fertilized egg into a fully formed and mature living organism. Phylogeny is the history of the evolution of a species…Humans take 38 weeks to pass through its evolutionary history. From a single primordial cell, the conceptus progresses through something of a protozoan, a fish, a reptile, a bird, a primate and ultimately a human. There is difference of opinion among scientists about the time a human emerges…but there is general acceptance that this time is after the first trimester.” (Elie A. Schneour, Los Angeles Times, 1989, Part V)

War, Imperialism and Racism: 1. “The new period of imperialism at the end of the 19th century found its support in Bismarckism and Social Darwinism, in all the theories glorifying power and success, which had swept over Europe with the German victory over France in 1870. Within a month, Engels wrote Marx (12-12-1859): ‘Darwin, whom I am now reading, is splendid,’ Evolution, of course, was just what the founders of communism needed to explain how mankind could have come into being without the intervention of any supernatural force, and consequently it could be used to bolster the foundations of their materialistic philosophy.” (Conway Zirkle, Evolution, 1959, p. 166)

New Age-ism “…the New Age complex would almost defy analysis except for the fact that all are based on evolutionism, as viewed from a pantheistic context, with this evolutionary process now operating on the human level and aimed at an eventual world culture under a world government.” (Henry Morris, Long War Against God, 1990, p. 126)

  16. New Age-ism “…Marilyn Ferguson, whose book The Aquarian Conspiracy has become the “Bible” of the movement, has named Pierre Teilhard de Chardin as the one most often mentioned as their mentor in a …survey.” (Ibid, p. 127)

  17. New Age-ism “Is evolution a theory, a system or a hypothesis? It is much more: it is a general condition to which all theories, all systems. All hypotheses must bow and which they must satisfy henceforward if they are to be thinkable and true. Evolution is a light illuminating all facts, a curve that all lines must follow.” (Theilhard de Chardin, Christianity and evolution, 1971, p. 179)

Thus the meaning and importance of Paul’s admonishment to the Ephesians about the armor of God becomes extremely evident: • Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles [the scheming] of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places…Having done all to stand, STAND therefore…(Ephesians 6:11-18)

Terms of Importance from this verse: • Faith(Shield/Faith)…defensive, Word of the Lord • Salvation (Helmet/Salvation)…defensive, blood covering • Word of God(Sword/Word)…offensive, “It is written” • Praying always, with supplication (deh’ay·sis—prayer for particular needs an benefits), in the Spirit (discernment)…defensive and offensive • Watching (discernment)…defense and offence

  21. In this connection, consider: • I Corinthians 14:8 “If the trumpetgive a uncertain sound…who…” • Matthew 24:42 “Watchtherefore: for…” • Mark 13:37 “…what I say unto you, I say to all, Watch” • Luke 21:36 “Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors...” (NLT)

  22. In this connection, consider: • For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NLT) • “The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.” 1 Peter 4:7 (NLT) • “…If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief. Revelation 3:3 (NLT)

  23. This worldview issue is associated with our HOPE…. For the earnest expectation of the creature [creation] waitethfor the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature [creation] was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature [creation] itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:19-23 (KJV)

  24. Vanity, emptiness caused as the result of sin and the curse, not original created design. • Corruption, decay, mortality, a condition caused by sin. • Bondage, slavery to, and victimized by, time and circumstance.

  25. V.When did Lucifer fall? ►Satan could not have fallen during the creation week—WHY? ►There is one obvious reason. What is one implication of God saying that He saw that the creation to be “GOOD”? ►What could be the Biblical timing for the creation of the angels?

  26. Psalms 104: 4a, “Who makethHis angel spirits…” WHEN: Psalm 104.3: “…layeththe beams of His chambers in the waters.” Job 38:7, “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” (This JOB passage is also in context with the establishment of the foundations of the earth.) Genesis 2:1, the word “hosts” can refer to the angels as well as worlds (planets, stars, etc.). Exodus 20:11, “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them.”

  27. What is in the heaven? Colossians 1:16,Paul said, that, “For by Him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all thingswere created by Him, and for Him.

  28. QUESTION: ►Can the created entities (called “things”) referred to as visible and invisible (ah·or’at·os > things not seen), thrones, dominions (kō·rē·ot’ace > power or dominion whether angelic or human), principalities and powers include the angels? Certainly seems so! ►When this verse is interpreted in light of Exodus 20:11, the “things in heaven,”of which Paul mentions, must have been created during the six-day creation week—probably, as we have suggested—early in the creation week, sometime during the first two or three days.

  29. The fact that God “saw” that everything created was “very good”is of great significance. Canwe legitimately think that the LORD would have indicated the Creation was “good,” ifthe devil was already there in the earth to deceive and destroy?

  30. The Mystery of Iniquity There are three facts concerning Satan’s deceptive schemes that all believers must understand (something many believers never fully appreciate or comprehend) : (1) The nature of the deception that guided Satan’s rebellion in heaven (which is the origin of the mystery of iniquity), and… (2) His deceptive scheme that accomplished the successful temptation and fall of Eve, and…

  31. There are many similarities in his own deception and those he used for the deception of Eve in the Garden of Eden. (3)Godis the author and facilitator of Creation and Satan is the author and facilitator of all evolution. This is, and has been, the battle line between good and evil for all time.

  32. In Revelation 12:9, John says: • So that great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. • John is here referring directly to Genesis 3 when he calls Satan “that old serpent of old.” • But when and how did Satan deceive the whole world ? • For one thing, this obviously indicates that Satan didn’t begin his campaign of deception until his expulsion from heaven – which strongly suggest the time of his rebellion.

  33. The late Dr. Henry M. Morris said: • The denial of God—rejecting the reality of supernatural creation and the Creator’s sovereign rule of the world—has always been the root cause of every human problem. This evolutionary, humanistic, pantheistic—even atheistic—worldview has taken many different forms over the ages, varying with time and culture, but it has always been there in one guise or another, to turn the minds and hearts of peoples away from their Maker. There has indeed been an age long war against God. It has been going on from the beginning of time and will increase in intensity in these last days.

  34. C. The Nature of Satan’s fall: There are two passages of Scripture that are extremely important in ascertaining the nature and intent of Satan’s rebellion and fall—Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel 28:12-16. However, some have alleged that Satan is not the topic of either of these passages. It is perfectly clear, they contend, that the king of Babylon and the king of Tyre are, in each case, the subject of these passages, therefore, they assert, to place Satan into these verses is poor exegesis . Because so much hangs in the balances, we will carefully consider these two passages.

  35. In Isaiah 14:12-15 we read: How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How are thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart; I willascend into heaven, I willexalt my throne above the stars of God, I willalso sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north; I willascend above the heights of the clouds, I willbe like the Most High. Yet thou shall be brought down to hell (Sheol), to the sides (recesses) of the pit.

  36. Questions: • ►Was the king of Babylon ever called Lucifer? • ►Did he fall from heaven? • ►Could he ascend into heaven? • ►Could he ascend above the heights of the clouds? No! • ►On the other hand, could any of these descriptions be true of the devil?Yes, they could, and they discernibly were.

  37. This passage is generally referred to theologically as the five “I wills”of Satan. If these five “I wills” are not Satan’s actual words at the time of his rebellion, they epitomize the content of his intentions that are being reflected by this incredibly wicked king of Babylon—Satan speaking through him just as he did through the serpent in the Garden. There should be no debate in the fact that Satan is the real power behind the throne of all kings and kingdoms of “Babylon the Great” (all secular rulers from Nimrod to the present). SEE: Luke 4:5

  38. In Ezekiel 28:12-15, while the context of this passage is specifically in reference to the king of Tyre, nevertheless, much of what is being said cannot possibly be applicable to this human being, king notwithstanding. ►The king of Tyre was not in the Garden of Eden; he was notcreated (bara)perfect, for all men, since Adam, are procreated and born in sin. ►As a matter of fact the king of Tyre was not created at all (at least, in the since of the Hebrew word used in this passage—bara), and was never perfect.

  39. In Ezekiel 28:12-15: ►He was obviously procreated; he had a father and mother; his history is evident, he lived about 3400 years after Adam. ►He was not the covering cherub; he did not walk back and forth in the midst of fiery stones; ►He was never established on God’s holy mountain, etc. ►All of these descriptions are of Lucifer, his creation, his location, his position, his purpose at the time of his fall; notthe king of Tyre.

  40. Thus this passage beginsin (Ezekiel 28:1-12) talking about the King of Tyrus, and introduces a brief parenthesis that refers to Lucifer (verses 13-15), then returnsto the king of Tyrus by verse 16. So, this passage plainly describes Satan’s rebellion, his fall and the source of all evil in the “Babylonian” world for time immemorial. Again, Satan is masterminding his kingdom activity through his seedin order to speak and accomplish his deceitful intentions in this world (age)— “Babylon the Great.”

  41. Verse 13: “covering” > mes·ook·kaw’—to garnish, or embellish • Verse 13: “created” > bara—to create from nothing • Verse 14: “covereth” > saw’kak—to protect, to defend, to fence in. • Verse 15: “perfect” > taw·meem’—without spot, perfect, complete, full, undefiled.

  42. The Mystery of Iniquity (Continued) A.(A)nomia, meaning No Law—this is the Gk word “law” (nomos) with the negating influence of the alpha privative added, as a-morality, or a-theism. 1. Iniquity is an all-inclusive cause, power or influence that is always associated with rebellion, disobedience against God’s love, grace, law, truth, light, authority and order. 2.It always produces falsehood, darkness, disorder, anarchy and death.

  43. Thus a logical gamut of Biblical reality: a.logical and functional opposite to divine love is pride b.logicaland functional opposite to divine law is lawlessness or human autonomy c.logical and functional opposite to divine truth is falsehood, or the lie d.logical and functional opposite to light is darkness e.logical and functional opposite to divine authority is self-will, self-expression and self-worship f.logical and functional opposite to divine order is disorder or evolution.

  44. It is inconceivable that a created being, who was “perfect in all his ways,” would ever think he could successfully carry out a coup d’etat against his own Creator. But, this reality speaks to the sovereign, predestined purpose of God from the foundation of the world, and the divinely intended War of the Ages (enmity). But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.) Jude 1:9 (NLT)

  45. The first step in any rebellion against God is self-deception, which is a fertile soil that voraciously feeds on pride (self-importance). • Satan was the first to experience the deluding, blinding influence of this pride—the most terrible of all sinful intoxicants. •This is doubtless why he became such a master deceiver, and probably why Jesus called him the father of liars! He contrived it all by first lying to himself. • He really had no excuse, because he was “created perfect in all his ways until iniquity was found in him” (Ezekiel 28:15). •This remains a mysterious fact and is a part of the mystery of Godliness, however, iniquity was found in him, which is the origin of evil! 

  46. What was the iniquity found in him? Here’s a hint. Ezekiel continues this description of Lucifer, by saying, that his “…heart was lifted up because of [his] beauty, [and that he] corrupted [his] wisdom by reason of [his] brightness…” The Isaiah passage identifies the beginning of his approach down this slippery slope with the fact that he spoke to his own heart, meaning he formed or framed evil in his heart, he reasoned within himself, from himself, by himself.

  47. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but are…”(2 Corinthians 10:4-5) “Finally, brethern whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure lovely, good report, if there be any virtue, praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

  48. Why do you think David cried out, “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name…” (Psalm 86:11)… Because he understood the subtlety of deceit, and the vile, deceivability of his own heart. Remember, the antediluvian world “framed evil continuously in their hearts.” A concordance study through the book of Psalms looking up all the verses in which the word “heart” was found reveals the word “heart” as presented by the psalmist appears to be the seat of all our intellectual capacities— the will, intellect and emotions.

  49. I will run the way of Thy commandments, when Thou shall enlarge my heart. Psalms 119.32 (KJV) I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding. Psalm 119.32 (NLT)

  50. Simply put, you don’t change a man’s will or impact his soul—not for very long—by appealing only to his emotions. Only a change in his thinking (his intellect) will influence his will and soul. What do you think determines how we live? The Wise man answered, “For as he [man] thinks in his heart, so is he.(Proverbs 23:7) Paul said, “Faith comes by hearing(an intellectual function), and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
