  1. The Asian-Australian Monsoon System: Recent Evolution, Current Status and Prediction Update prepared by Climate Prediction Center / NCEP April 28, 2014 For more information, visit:http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Global_Monsoons/Asian_Monsoons/Asian_Monsoons.shtml

  2. Outline • Recent Rainfall and Current Conditions • Monsoon Prediction • Summary • Climatology

  3. Precip Patterns: Last 90 Days For the past 90 days, the rainfall over the entire region has generally been at or below normal levels except over parts of northern Australia and southern Philippines. Rainfall has been much below normal over Japan, Koreas, northeastern India southern India.

  4. Precip Patterns: Last 30 Days For the past 30 days, rainfall has been deficient over northeastern India, Korea, Japan, and over parts of southeast Asia.

  5. Precip Patterns: Last 7 Days In this past week rainfall across the region has generally been at near or below normal levels across the region except for above normal rainfall over southeastern China near Fujian province.

  6. Rainfall Time Seriesover 5x5 lat-lon boxes The time series of precipitation over the various regions is pretty much consistent with the spatial maps shown earlier.

  9. Summary For the past 90 days, the rainfall over the entire region has generally been at or below normal levels except over parts of northern Australia and southern Philippines. Rainfall has been much below normal over Japan, Koreas, northeastern India southern India. For the past 30 days, rainfall has also been deficient over northeastern India, Korea, Japan, and over parts of southeast Asia. In this past week rainfall across the region has generally been at near or below normal levels across the region except for above normal rainfall over southeastern China near Fujian province. In the next couple of weeks, the NCEP GFS model predicts above normal rainfall over northeast India, eastern China and vicinity and across parts of southeast Asian countries at least in the first week.
