  1. Diagnosis and treatment of liver cirrhosis Fatty liver disease does not cause major problems for most people. However, if Alcoholic fatty liver disease treatment and precautions are not prioritized, it can turn into a more serious problem and progress into cirrhosis of the liver. Cirrhosis is when scar tissue replaces healthy liver tissue in the liver, hindering the organic from working normally. How is cirrhosis diagnosed? The healthcare provider would look at your past health, and recommend a physical exam and tests. These tests may include: • Blood tests: Liver function tests help doctors to understand if the organ is working the way it should. You may even have to undergo tests to see if your blood is able to clot. • Liver biopsy: Small tissue samples are taken from the liver with a needle or during surgery, and then checked under a microscope to find out the type of liver disease. • CT scan: Such scans show details of the bones, muscles, fat, and organs. • MRI: This test provides detailed pictures of organs and structures inside the body.

  2. Ultrasound: This test shows internal organs as they work. It can check how blood is flowing through different blood vessels. How is liver cirrhosis treated? Cirrhosis CLD Treatment approach followed would depend on the severity of the condition. Cirrhosis basically is a progressive liver disease that happens over time. The damage to the liver can at times be reversed or improved if the trigger is gone, such as if you stop drinking alcohol or if the virus is treated. The goal of cirrhosis treatment is largely to slow down the buildup of scar tissue, as well as prevent or treat other health problems. Doctors might be able to delay or stop any more liver damage with the proper treatment. In case the patient has hepatitis, it may be treated to delay the worsening of the liver disease. The treatment may include: • Eating a healthy diet, low in sodium • Not having alcohol or illegal drugs • Managing health issues that happen because of cirrhosis Certain treatment options are specific to the cause of cirrhosis like controlling excessive iron or copper levels, or using immune suppressing medicines. Doctors may even recommend certain prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, or vitamins to the patients. However, if one has severe cirrhosis, a liver transplant may be needed.
