  2. Circles = grammar/spelling/spacing, etc. • #’s on Explanations on rubric = evidence # • Great job with PEET format, Points, Evidence, & Tie-backs! • Final draft can increase 2nd draft score by 50%.

  3. Explanations! • Give piece of Evidence, then… • Explain what evidence means. (This means that…) • Connect evidence to thesis. (This proves my point because…)

Explanations: Russia = socialist • Evidence: Lenin distributed farmland to all Russian peasants (MWH 456). • Explanation, part one (explain what evidence means): • Before the revolution, most Russians were peasants who did not own their own land. After Lenin & the Bolsheviks took over, they took land away from the rich landowners and redistributed it to the poor, landless Russians.

In this case, Lenin was in control, and he gave each Russian an equal amount of farmland. This is what true socialism looks like!
