  4. Lessons • Students have a “lesson” once a week • 85% of the students have their lesson during their study hall time. • Students that have study hall at the same time I have band, have their lesson during part of their first or second hour class.

  5. Concerts • Concerts are required activities – similar to a final exam. Part of the grade is based on attendance at this “final”. • Exceptions are made for serious personal illness and family emergency. • Concert Dates for 2005-2006

  6. Repairs and Supplies • Repairs – Please don’t try to fix it yourself! I can do a lot of minor repairs here at school such as pulling stuck mouthpieces, gluing pads in and fixing springs and screws. • Shop repairs – If I can’t fix it, it will need to go to the shop. Ask for a loaner instrument to use while it is getting fixed. • Supplies – Most supplies, such as reeds, valve oil, swabs, and slide grease are available at school. I will send a supply and price list with summer information.

  7. Dress Code • Concert Dress: • Girls – Dress or Skirt and Top • Boys – Nice pants, Collared Shirt, Tie • No specific colors needed

  8. Family or Friends – Make sure the instrument is in good working order before band camp. Take to a music store that has an in-house repair person. They will estimate repairs before doing any work. Internet Purchases – Use instrument brand recommendation sheet. Require a return option. Take instrument to be evaluated before purchase. Repair Insurance - Can purchase repair insurance for own instrument. Music Store Rental - White House of Music is our school store and they make weekly pick-ups and deliveries. Purchase maintenance and repair insurance. Do not pick up instrument before band camp starts. Stores will deliver instruments before the first day of camp. Obtaining an Instrument
