  2. Why? To assist districts with the development of: • Local assessments (20% APPR) • Assessments for use in writing Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) (20% APPR) • Interim Assessments for Inquiry Teams

Types of Assessment Objective Assessments Performance Assessments Teachers will develop performance tasks and scoring rubrics Exemplars will be created/collected during course of year to assist with scoring • Teachers will develop items which will populate a regional item bank • All items will be tagged for content, standards, level of difficulty and other regionally developed tags • Items will be marked as “Secure” or “Non-Secure” • Accessible to building administrators via eDoctrina to create district assessments using regionally created assessment map

  4. Scoring of Assessments • Administration guidance and scoring materials will be developed by teachers • Scoring must be determined locally to meet the requirements of the use of the assessment (i.e. “no vested interest” rule)

  5. Certification of Rigor Districts will be provided with supporting materials to assist Superintendent with determination of “rigor” • Development methodology • Administration/Scoring Guidance • Alignment to Testing Standards “to the extent practicable”

  6. Timeline • Performance Assessments • Special Areas to start Regents week (June 11th) and continue through end of June • Objective Assessments • All content areas/grade levels to begin after July 16th

Development Schedule: Objective Assessments Day 1 Day 2 Assignment of items for development Development and tagging of assessment items Developing of scoring guides • Development of regional assessment map • Training on writing quality assessment items • Practice assessment writing with feedback

  8. Development Schedule: Performance Assessments Day 1 Day 2 Assignment of items for development Development and tagging of assessment items Development of scoring rubric • Development of regional assessment map • Training on performance task development • Training on quality rubric development

  9. Needs Assessment • Needs Assessment will go out via RCC listserve today – will close Friday, April 27 • Respond regarding the content area and assessment type needed • If respond with need, should be prepared to send at least one teacher • Other box to indicate other needs you have regarding assessment that we may not have captured
