This document provides a summary of the status of OMAP4 and OMAP3 display patches, detailing progress made since migrating to kernel version 2.6.34. Key points include upcoming deadlines for RFC submissions, patches under internal review, and a collaboration effort to enhance the display driver domain. Challenges faced include frequent changes in the open-source DSI driver and difficulties with community acceptance of defconfig changes. The team is working towards ensuring backward compatibility across OMAP2, OMAP3, and OMAP4 platforms and building a comprehensive Display Wiki.

Key Activities • First meeting w. Tomi on introducing OMAP4 Display feature plans • Working on getting a board to Tomi to gain momentum on OMAP4 reviews • Tomi suggested to deliver basic DSS cleanup patches including HWMOD adaptation before OMAP4 feature additions • Tomi suggested to validate our changes on OMAP2 for ensuring backward compatibility in addition to OMAP3 & OMAP4 • Need to arrange an OMAP2 board. • Started building Display Wiki in OMAPpedia • http://omappedia.org/wiki/Display_Drivers_Domain_Wiki • Review of HWMOD adaptation strategy for Display in PM camp • Follow up discussion needed involving Tomi for changes suggested in DSS2 structure
Specific issues • Frequent changes in open source DSI driver causing rework • Reason is lack of active participation on reviewing patches in the past • Will be actively reviewing patches • Defconfig changes not being accepted by the community. No alignment on alternative approach • Impacts acceptance of key OMAP3 patches
