  2. Get ready for the Great American Smokeout! American Cancer Society’s 37th annual event November 15, 2012 Purpose of the observance is “encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day.” Contact TTS for quitting resources and information

  3. How can TTS help? • Lunch & Learn presentations • Smoking Intervention Program telephone counseling • Free to community for a limited time! • Freedom From Smoking group classes

  4. Success rates • Research shows the best success rates come from the combination of counseling and medications • All TTS programs review medication options; SIP facilitates getting prescriptions • Quit rates of 20-25% (compare with 3-5% with no assistance) for SIP • Quit rates of 40-100% for FFS

  5. Testimonials • “My SIP counselor calls and emails me all the time.  And I can call or email her anytime.” • “After 32 years of smoking, I was up to more than a pack a day.  I made hundreds of attempts to quit, but never quit longer than 72 hours.  This time I’ve been smoke-free since Sept. 27, and the difference was the Henry Ford Freedom From Smoking program.” • "The SIP program was tailored to my needs and very convenient. All the materials I needed were mailed to my home. My counselor was an excellent support. She called and checked in with me, we had frequent phone conversations, and I could call her any time I felt myself slipping." • "When I smoked, my co-workers could hear me coming because I was constantly coughing. I could hardly breathe bringing groceries in from the car. Now I don't cough and I can even exercise. I smoked for 44 years, and tried to quit many times. I'm so glad I never quit trying!"
