Background Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by a parasite. • According to US Embassy in Nigeria (2011) “Malaria affects 3.3 billion people, or half of the world’s population, in 106 countries and territories.” • Malaria is the 3rd leading cause of death for children under five years worldwide. (US Embassy in Nigeria, 2011) • Malaria is a risk for 97% of Nigeria’s population. (USAID, 2012) References United State Agency for Development (2012).
