  3. Graphic Representation

  4. INTERVENTION: • Improve the quality of the pass i.e. more learners need to exit with a level 7 for LO • The vast majority of learner’s marks range between level 4 and level 5 (2012). Reason → Subject not given the attention it requires.↓ Inculcate within the learner the importance of LO. • The move towards CAPS and a more content based curriculum and eventually an external examination in Gr 12 is a contributing factor to the deviation seen over the years.

  5. TOURISM GR 12

  6. TOURISM • FINDINGS/ANALYSIS: • Even though learners passed the subject, there were too few level 7’s. • Solution: classes that are informed by the ability of learners i.e. separate classes for high learners and struggling learners. • Need to convert failures into passes – teacher committed to offering one-to-one intervention to learners. 7. TOURISM – GR 10/11 LSS DEPT OF HUMANITIES

  8. FINDINGS/SOLUTIONS • NO learner in grade 10 or grade11 achieved 80-100%. • In grade 10 no learner achieved between 70-100%. • Intervention: Extra classes. • Learners seemed to be apathetic to learning. • Discipline in these particular classes raised concerns. • High absenteeism. 9. SOCIAL SCIENCE – 2012 GRADE 8

  10. SOCIAL SCIENCE – 2012 GRADE 9 LSS DEPT OF HUMANITIES

  11. FINDINGS/INTERVENTION • Gr 8: Only 8 learners obtained level 7. • 2013 → Enrichment programme to be developed to improve results. • Gr 9: Too many learners average level 4. Could be attributed to learners giving off their bare minimum and not performing at their best • 2013 → Intervention needs to be streamlined to ensure it identifies and addresses the strengths and weaknesses of the average learner. Home work and application tasks need to be encouraged. LSS DEPT OF HUMANITIES
