Summary • Noise is caused not just by the rotor, but by other components as well. • Rotor noise is below acceptable levels. • Noise increases as rotor radius increases. • Downwind rotors may generate more noise as they pass through the tower wake. • Trailing edge noise is a noticeable contributor. • Serrated trailing edges may help. • NREL has developed standard test procedures (See articles by Migliore).
