What happens at ACA?Artist research and development facility • Host 3-week long intensive RESIDENCY experiences for the most talented artists in the world! • During a residency 3 Master Artists are contracted - one each from the visual, literary and performing arts – who then lead a group of 8 Associate Artists selected through a VERY competitive application process. • They live, breathe and think arts over the next 3 weeks – immersing themselves into thought and creativity away from distraction of the outside world.

Who are ACA’s artist-in-residence? • Master Artists are… • Pulitzer Prize Winners, Poet Laureates, National Book Award Winners, MacArthur Genius winners, Guggenheim Fellows, NEA Grant recipients – The TOP of the field! • Associate Artists are… • Professional artists, university professors, accomplished in their respective fields and countries • 45% International

  4. UCF-ACA PARTNERSHIP CONNECTIONS Partnership established in 1986 through the efforts of Sam Bell (Florida House of Representatives 1974-1988) and ACA founder Doris Leeper

  5. Master Artist OutreachProgram • Atlantic Center provides UCF with the opportunity to host at least one or more Master Artists during each of its residencies, providing unprecedented access to leaders in the field. • Resulting in at least 4-5 FREE programs a year, open to all departments, students, the public, and to you!

  6. Associate Artists-in-ResidenceProgram • All fees are waived for UCF alumni, faculty, adjuncts, staff and students that are selected to participate in ACA’s residency program – an unparralled opportunity!  • UCF-ACA Alumni represent a broad scope, and include: composers Jeff Rupert, Stella Sung; filmmaker Lisa Cook; visual artist Mark Price; poet Cecilia Rodriquez Milanes; and authors Susan Lilley, Dawn Trouard, and Kelle Groom

  7. Le Salon Membership • Modeled after the French Salons of the late 20th century, ACA’s Le Salon program is an upper-level membership category that gives unprecedented access to ACA’s Master Artists and other Central Florida art enthusiasts. Events are hosted in private homes and catered, allowing an intimate experience for all with todays best artists!

  8. UCF Retreats at ACA • ACA provides its facilities at no-cost to department chairs, upper-level administrators at all campuses for meetings, retreats and conferences. • Participants have included College of Arts & Humanities, Emerging Media, Daytona Beach Regional Campus

  9. UCF Classes at ACA • For the last 11 years professor Tom Brewer, PhD, Coordinator of Art Education Teaching & Learning Principals conducts a summer intensive at ACA where students live and work on-site earning course credit, and valuable artistic practice skills. • Professors from all departments are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to host mini-residencies, seminars, interdisciplinary programs.

  10. UCF InternshipProgram • Each summer ACA hosts one student from the Leo Burnett Honors College, developed in 2005 by Dr. Alvin Wong, Chair of the Honors College. • Interns live on-site, receive housing, meals, a small stipend and interact with the administration and artists-in-residence for a fully rounded experience.

  11. ACA TrusteesAn opportunity to serve the broader arts/non-profit communities • The ACA Board currently includes two UCF administrators/faculty members: Dr. José Fernandez, Dean College of Arts & Humanities, and Mark Price, Professor, Department of Art (and three-time artist in residence at ACA). • ACA Trustee member Margery Pabst was recently appointed to the UCF Foundation Board.

  12. ACA Exhibitions of UCF Faculty and Student Work • UCF participates in ACA's annual juried University Student Exhibition – currently in 22nd year! • UCF faculty/students exhibit in ACA’s Harris House Gallery – UCF faculty Robert Rivers’ work is currently on display!

  13. Collaboration and Promotion of UCF’s Florida Review & Faculty Speaking engagements at ACA programs your word: Teen Writing Residency & Blue Flower Writer’s Conference: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012

  14. Events and Tours • ACA hosts tours, events and meetings for ACA Trustees & members at UCF sites, including the Center for Emerging Media in downtown Orlando, Orlando Repertory Theater, and Flying Horse Press, where ACA Master Artists have collaborated. • We welcome all of you to visit our site and experience ACA first hand! We have hosted UCF leadership and Town & Gown for various events.

  15. Opportunities for Engagement ACA serves 50,000 people annually through a variety of programs including lectures, workshops, gallery exhibitions and IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts. Pabst Visitor Center & Gallery has welcomed over 30,000 visitors since opening in 2007
