  2. Introduction Born: July 6th, 1946 in New Haven Date Elected: January 20, 2001 Interesting Fact: Before his Presidency, he served for 6 years as Governor of the state of Texas.

  3. Early Life, Family, and Education Married to Laura Welch Bush, Father of twin daughters named Barbara and Jenna. He had 5 siblings. George’s little sister died of cancer in 1953. He went to Jacinto Junior High School.

  4. The Election George W. Bush chose Dick Cheney as vice president. He ran against Al Gore in the election. Gore had won more popular votes. Bush had won more electoral votes. Bush- 271 Votes Gore- 266 Votes

  5. Significant Events One of the important issues that George W. Bush addressed was the Iraq War. Bush believed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was a threat to America’s Security.

  6. Life Accomplishments Bush approved the No Child Left Behind Act. Bush created the Department of Homeland Security; Congress passed the USA Patriot Act.

  7. Interesting Facts In 1994 Bush was elected governor of Texas. In 2002 Bush approved the No Child Left Behind Act. In 1975 Bush graduated from Harvard. George’s little sister Robin died of cancer in 1953.
