  3. Eastern Woodland Eastern Woodland is located in the eastern of America. The forest is so thick that in some places sunlight could barely reach the ground. In the eastern of woodland you would you would mostly find snow covered mountain. Eastern woodland also have wet swamp in the south. Also did you know that tribes would fight each other for land.   4. Iroquois The Iroquois lives in the northeastern of woodland. The Iroquois are also powerful. They fought with peoples, even with their neighbors called the Algonkins. Famers had to gather food for their peoples. Also hunters had to go farther in the forest to hunt animals and when they went hunting, they entered other tribes. The fight then began over the land continued out of revenge. Religon The Iroquois often usedlegendsof stories handed down over time. Once a legend was told about a man name Dekankwida was the first man to speak out against all the fighting. An Onondaga chief named Hiawatha visited the Iroquois tribes asking to end the fighting. Tired of war, they finally agreed to stop the war. All the tribes decided to work together in what became known as the Iroquois League. In the 1570 the members of the Iroquois League agreed to form a confederation or loose group of government. There was a group call counciland the group that makes laws. There were five Iroqouis tribes together are call the Five Nation. The oldest women in each tribe chose the council members. Everyone had to vote before anything was done. The Iroquoisconfederation was like a longhouse. The longhouse is made of elm bark. It has a door in the front and back. There wereMohawsksgaurding the eastern door and the Senecasgaurdingthe western door. Caption box

  5. Iroquois League The Iroquois League was when a Seneca women who lost her son in the battle with the Cayuga's. She was made and angry so she ask the men in her clan to attack the Cayugas and pay them back for her sons death. The Seneca women who lost her son in the war. http://www.google.com/imgres

  6. Cherokees The Land Cherokee lives in the south of the Iroquois. The Cherokee liked tribes from that southeast. Cherokee made their homes on rivers. Houses The Cherokee families always have two houses. One house is to keep them warm in the winter time and the other one is to keep them cool in the summer. The winter houses are small and the summer house are big. Families that are in the same clan lives together they wanted to. Cherokee houses were often were built together to form a village. Also Cherokees made a lot of medicine with plants from the forest. Also Cherokee fought with neighbors. Surviving Cherokees survived food by planting corn, beans, squash, pumpkins, sunflower, tobacco. They also fished, hunt, squirrel's, rabbits, turkeys, bears, and deer.
