Start your class with Silent Sustained Reading (SSR); pick any book, excluding textbooks, and read quietly for 5-10 minutes. Afterwards, finish group work from the previous day. For the Book Jacket Presentations, take notes, ask questions, and listen respectfully. As an end-of-class activity, explore the Hero’s Journey focusing on the Departure stage. Create original comics that illustrate key steps: the Call, Refusal, Aid, Crossing the Threshold, and the Belly of the Whale. Use a sample comic as guidance for your creations.
