  1. Development of Photosynthetic Atmospheric Radiation (PAR) Product for Biogenic Emissions Arastoo Pour Biazar and Richard McNider University of Alabama in Huntsville Air quality managers (including theTexas Commission on Environmental Quality and California Air Resources Borad) indicated that a satellite derived PAR product previously produced operationally by the NOAA/U.Marylandwas no longer supported. We were asked could we provide such a product from our GOES insolation product data archive. We have started the development of a PAR product based on techniques developed by Frouin and Pinker, 1994 and Pinker and Laszlo, 1992 to convert broad band insolation to PAR . This technique develops a correction factor as a function of cloud optical depth, zenith angle, water vapor profile and ozone profile. We have made preliminary calculations of the correction factor using cloud optical depth. The goal is deliver PAR as a by-product of the UAH GOES insolation product archive.
