Points of identification • Simple Squamous Epithelia 1-Flat cells lying over the basement membrane 2-Centraly placed flat to oval nucleus • Simple cuboid Epithelia 1-Length and breadth of the cell is almost equal 2-Centraly placed round nucleus • Simple columnar Epithelia 1-Length of the cell is more than the breadth of the cell 2-Nucleus is oval and placed near the basement membrane • Simple columnar ciliated Epithelia 1-Length of the cell is more than the breadth of the cell 2-Nucleus is oval and placed near the basement membrane 3-Cilia present over the free end of the cell

Points of identification • Pseudo stratified columnar ciliated epithelia 1-Short and long columnar cells lying over the same basement membrane 2-Nucleus present in different levels gives the stratified appearance 3-Cilia present over the free end of the cell • Stratified squamous keratinised epithelia 1-Basal cells are columnar cells 2-Intermediate cells are polyhedral in shape 3-Superficial cells are squamous cells 4-Keratin layer covers the squamous cell layer • Stratified squamous keratinised epithelia 1-Basal cells are columnar cells 2-Intermediate cells are polyhedral in shape 3-Superficial cells are squamous cells

  9. Points of identification • Transitional epithelia 1-Basal Cells are short columnar cells 2- Intermediate cells are polyhedral /pear shaped cells 3-Superficial cells are umbrella shaped cells
