Conclusions (3): Małopolska in the time horizon of 2020 and 2050 the developmental path of Małopolska bears numerous attributes of an evolutionary structure of long duration the role of the Kraków metropolis as the switching pointlinking Małopolska with global economic networks and impulses of innovativeness • the impact of path dependent mechanisms, which foster the continuation of the positive cumulative developmental path of the region: • self-reinforcing positive image of the city and the region • the reactive process ofdiversification of the regional economy the impact of thesuccess or failure of the deep restructuring of the neighbouring Katowice conurbation significant challenges: settlement dispersal, transport accessibility, multifunctional development of rural areas
