  1. Ancient Egypt Housing, Building and Architecture By Jos Medley

How they made their structures. • The ancient Egyptians were skilled builders; using simple but effective tools and sighting instruments, architects could build large stone structures with accuracy and precision. • They made them with team work to help the building go quicker and it helped to make sure the mud bricks didn’t get broken while they were busy building.

  3. What materials the Egyptians used. • Egyptians constructed from perishable materials such as mud bricks and wood. It helped keep the houses and structures stable and strong. • The used tools are collected from the Nile River and other area’s close to it were used to build houses and other structures.

  4. The way they lived. • Peasants lived in small white washed houses with palm leaves as roof, and rich had big houses with high slit windows to keep out the sun also in the big houses they had a big room and a couple of little one. The also had lots of shade. • The Rich Egyptians liked also having pools or flower beds next to or in their house.

  5. How were the ingredients built • The mud bricks were made by straw and mud chopped up. Then the Egyptians wood put the mud and straw in a wooden mould to dry out in the sun. • People brought the mud bricks from the government instead of making them.

  6. Furniture • The Egyptians used stools rather than chairs. • For their beds they used wooden head rests to keep their head straight instead of pillows where they move around. • They also had chests to keep their clothing and items in such as Jewellery and Specials clothes.

  7. Differences between Egyptian houses and now. • The Egyptians only had houses that were built from Mud bricks and straw. They had only palm leaves or mud bricks for their roof. • People these days would have brick, rock, stone or even just plain strong structures from builders and We have strong roofs from rock and bricks. We also have much more building technology and just more technology all together.

Types of tools used to build the buildings put together the ingredients. • Egyptians used many to tools to construct their buildings houses. • The tools they used were: • Flint tools- There are many of these. • Greywacke (related to sandstone) rubbing tool. • Wooden cramps. • A wide variety of Axes • Bronze chisels
