This guide outlines the graduation requirements and course selection process for the Class of 2011. Students must demonstrate academic proficiency on PSSA tests, complete a culminating senior project, and fulfill 30 hours of community service. Policies regarding failing courses, promotion guidelines, and scheduling courses are provided, along with specific instructions for selecting elective courses and deadlines for submission. Directions Note: We are unable to honor requests for specific teachers at the high school. Martin Meylin students will be scheduled for eight credits in ninth grade. Four will be taught first semester, and four will be taught second semester. Martin Meylin Teams will recommend course levels for Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science, totaling 4 (four) credits. All students will be scheduled for Health/Physical Education and Public Speaking, together totaling 1 (one) credit. Students should read the Course Selection Guide carefully for information about all of the elective courses available to them before selecting their remaining classes.
Directions • On the “Course Selection for Ninth Grade” sheet, students must choose 6 electives courses by placing an “E-1, E-2, E-3, E-4, E-5, E-6” to designate priority before the alternate choices. • If there is a disagreement with the Martin Meylin team’s academic course level assignment, parents/guardians should attach a note to the course selection sheet stating why they believe a different course should be scheduled. A high school counselor may be in touch to discuss options. • Return the Course Selection Sheet to Homeroom by February 14th. • ALL SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUESTS • MUST BE MADE BY June 30th 2007
