Background Information • Original concept was to make airframe larger and faster than the 747-400. • Unfortunately the 9/11 terrorist attacks spiked oil prices and put pressure on airline manufacturers. • 2003, Boeing unveils new aircraft, 7E7, test flight on December 15, 2009. • Maiden commercial flight was on October 26, 2011 with All Nippon Airways.

  5. New Technology (Airframe) • Body made of composite materials (CFRP). • One piece composite body. • Smooth Ride Technology • Smooth Wing Technology

  6. New Engine Technology • Advanced engines have more electric systems and a bypass of 10. • Sound proofed engine materials. • Nacelle Chevrons installed. • Interchangeable engines.

  7. New Flight Controls • Dual HUD, thermal imaging. • Larger, programmable navigation screens. • Standardized controls with other Boeing airframes. • Electronic checklist.

  8. Passenger Technology • Dynamic LED lighting in the fuselage. • New larger windows, tinted. • New air conditioning system, quieter.
