Secretary of State Website Resources www.soskids.arkansas.gov The Traveler’s Guide to Arkansas site is the online resource for downloadable educational materials from the Secretary of State’s office. www.sos.arkansas.gov The main Secretary of State site contains educational materials, online franchise tax payments, corporation registration, and election information.

  2. History Website Resources www.cals.lib.ar.us/butlercenter The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies website provides Arkansas History lesson plans, downloadable maps and photographs, and access to thousands of Arkansas primary source materials. www.encyclopediaofarkansas.net The mission of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Project is to collect and disseminate information on all aspects of the state’s history and culture and to provide a comprehensive reference work for historians, teachers, students, and individuals for the purpose of promoting the study, understanding, and appreciation of Arkansas’s heritage.

History Website Resources www.arkansasheritage.com The Department of Arkansas Heritage is the central agency that oversees the Old State House Museum, the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Delta Cultural Center, the Arkansas Arts Council, the Natural Heritage Commission, the Historic Preservation Program, and the Mosaic Templars CulturalCenter. www.arkansas.com The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism’s website offers great state maps, information about all state parks and historical sites, and a video--Song of Arkansas. This is a great site to use to teach about Arkansas history and geography.

History Website Resources www.arcounties.org This site contains a great map of counties with brief summaries of each county’s history and current industrial/business base. www.clintonlibrary.gov This site contains biographies, online resources, and tour information. The Clinton Presidential Library site is a great place to explore the life and terms of Arkansas’s only President.

Special Event and Funding Resources www.nps.gov/chsc This site contains information about the Little Rock Nine; also includes lesson plans, tour scheduling information, timelines, and the history and stories of the 1957 crisis. www.arkhums.org This is a resource center containing exhibits, videos, CDs, etc. for teachers to borrow and use in the classroom. Grant guidelines and applications and how-to-apply guides are available for download.

Civics Website Resources http://bensguide.gpo.gov/index.html This is the most comprehensive online guide to federal government; including lesson plans, interactive and printable games, and links to all federal agencies grouped for teachers and also for students. Great resource! www.constitutioncenter.org The National Constitution Center’s site features an interactive U.S. constitution, information about landmark constitutional law cases, lesson plans, and other activities to aid in teaching basic constitutional principles.

This site emphasizes political power for young people in fresh and creative ways.

Clips are sorted by topics: Principles of Government, Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, Judicial Branch, U. S. Constitution and Political Participation.
