  5. Emotional Appeal • promotes fear, hope, or other emotions

  6. Plain Folks • shows people like you

  7. Snob Appeal • suggests you will be fashionable or trendy

  8. Name Calling • Negative words are used to create an unfavorable opinion of the competition in the viewer's mind

  9. Lawrence Welk Show • A long-lived and popular musical program which had massive appeal in the post-WWII era

  10. Eavesdropped • Listened in to a conversation meant to be private

  11. Seniority • A method of recognizing the right to those with the most years of employment in a work place to first choice in important things (such as overtime)

  12. Vittles • In country dialect, the word for food

  13. Wilier • Craftier; slyer (from wily)

  14. Whirlpool • Water moving in a violent spiral at the point where currents meet

  15. Raising Cain • Causing trouble; making a great deal of noise
