  1. PHENIX Status, 4/19/11 Takao Sakaguchi • p+p physics run ended • IR work for 18GeV and 200GeV is in progress • VTX maintenance, muon arm maintenance..

  2. Integrated luminosity (Final) Goal: 20/pb Final 16.7/pb in |z|<30cm, 27.6/pb in wide vertex

  3. Achievement of p+p running • W-physics run completed • Longitudinal beam. • W-candidate muons were seen, which are consistent with expectation • Both north and south RPC were brought up into online trigger • VTX is successfully taking data on beam • Took physics data on beam with other detectors. • Data being analyzed to obtain performance (DOE requirement: position resolution, etc,) • Last vernier scan successfully taken on Sunday. Thanks for supporting physics goals of the PHENIX experiments

  4. A Look at Run 11 Muon Data • Tracks triggered with MuID&&BBC&&SG1 • SG1 uses track sagita in Muon Tracker • From first 7.5 pb-1 recorded • Yellow is Run9 • Blue is old trigger (lower due to added absorber) • Purple is SG1 triggered tracks • Green is with RPC • With SG1, we did not need to prescale even at highest rates This dataset gives ~10% to our integrated luminosity goal for the W-physics program.

  5. Beam size from pixel VTX (shown) • RMS of (phi0c-phi1c) would give beam spot size • Fit by Gaus + straight line. Sigma of the peak is 0.0137 • This corresponds to the beam spot size of 0.0137*2.5cm = 0.342 mm • Using all track. Most of them are in low pT, being affected by multiple scattering and magnetic bending.

  6. Pixel-strip association • phip: projected phi angle from two correlated hit in pixel • phi: phi angle in the first layer of the strip • Clear correlation seen at phip-phi = 0

  7. 18GeV Au+Au planning • Assumption • RHIC uptime 55%, PHENIX uptime 77% • Average luminosity expected: 6×1025 /(cm2 sec) • 25% of delivered luminosity falls in |z|<30cm • BUP estimate: 1 week 18GeV running -> 24M events • Physics target • pT spectra and anisotropic flow (v_n) of identified hadrons 30M evts case 10M evts case
